In Chatham-Kent, Community Support Services provides flexible and individualized supports to children and youth who are experiencing emotional and/or behavioral difficulties or complex challenges. The service is intended to decrease family disruption and out-of-home placements. Service can be provided on a short-term basis (until family stability is regained) or longer-term, as needed. Qualified support workers provide direct support to the child, youth and family in the family’s home or community. A needs assessment is completed and an action plan is developed, implemented and reviewed on a regular basis. The actual hours of support are based on the family’s specific needs.
